PROJECTS africa

Read here all the projects PWER.ME is carrying out or has carried out in africa!

Bosaso, with over 1 million inhabitants, is a major port city in Somalia and is considered the easternmost city in Africa. The project contributes to increased employment and improve living standards, among other things.

Somalia, Bosaso

20MW Solar Installation

PWER.ME Foundation, together with UPVolt Energy Solutions, is developing a 20MW solar plant including batteries near the Somali Land town of Bosaso. The sun shines ther all year round, making it an ideal loaction for solar power. Currently, almost all energy is supplied by diesel generators. This is costly and it use leads to siginificant CO2 emissions. With the solar system and batteries, more than 22,000 tonnes of CO2 production can be reduced annually. In addition, power can be supplied significantly cheaper and with much less need for foreign exchange.

Cape Verde, Sal

Tomatoes and drinking water

The island of Sal, Cape Verde, has a significant market for high-quality fresh vegetables and virtually no local production. The demand comes from the many tourists who enjoy the island (and, in smaller numbers, locals). Currently, tomatoes are brought to the island by ship from one of the other islands or by plane from Europe. Logistical constraints make the tomatoes very expensive and in many cases the quality is poor due to handling and poor storage during transport. Together with Biofy, the PWER.ME Foundation is promoting the food transition. The spearhead is growing food for local use. If possible, we provide additional employment and education.

The PWER.ME Foundation, Biofy and UPVolt, as part of a chain of sustainable technology companies, is building a ‘solar greenhouse’ that generates electricity on the one hand and provides the right amount of shade and protection from harsh conditions on the other. The greenhouse is sufficiently open to allow airflow and prevent excessively high temperatures inside. UPVolt BV uses high-efficiency light-transmitting solar panels that are 95% recyclable unlike traditional panels. Together with Rainmaker, water is produced from sea air and pool water to grow tomatoes.

Congo DRC, inongo

2MW Solar and battery

PWER.ME Foundation and UPVolt Energy Solutions are developing the construction of a 2MW solar panel field, including a battery supply.

Inogo is the capital of Mai-Ndombe province in Congo DRC. It has about 60,000 inhabitants. The city is located on Lake Mai-Ndombe. The city is only accessible by air and water, making living in the city very expensive. For many parts of the day, there is no electricity. Also, the power supply is unstable. Because it is so expensive, people only use the energy from late afternoon to evening. Energy is generated from diesel. Some houses have one or a few solar panels.

Congo DRC, Inongo

Fish and air-to-water factory

PWER.ME Foundation, together with UPVolt Energy Solutions and partners, is developing two factories, a fish factory and a drinking water factory.

This project is phase one of a project of a total of 6 factories. The second phase is the development of a goat cheese factory, a wild honey factory, and a cold store. These factories will create many jobs, in the factory, fishermen, and logistics.

The site is in Inongo, a town in the Democratic Republic of Congo located on the shores of Lake Mai-Ndombe and is the capital of Mai-Ndombe province. Inongo has an estimated population of 60,000. In terms of surface area, the province is about three time the Netherlands.
