Senegal, Dakar
The PWER.ME Foundation in collaboration with several universities and partners in Senegal, is developing an assembly factory for electric vehicles. The vehicles are based on a fixed base platform on which either van chassis can be placed, ordinary passenger car or sports car models can be made. With the fixed platform construction and drive in different body designs, this contributes to an economically viable concept.
Senegal is a country in West Africa. The capital of Senegal is Dakar. The project contributes to employment and clean mobility and will be implemented simultaneously with the installation of solar fields and charging plazas to power the vehicles.
The project aims to cut over 22,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually by transitioning from diesel generators to renewable solar energy.
PWER.ME Foundation, in collaboration with UPVolt Energy Solutions, is building a 20MW solar power plant with battery storage near Bosaso, Somaliland, leveraging its year-round sunshine.
The solar plant will provide significantly cheaper power, reducing reliance on costly diesel imports and lowering foreign exchange demands.
This development represents a shift towards sustainable energy solutions in a region currently dependent on expensive and polluting diesel-generated electricity.
