Duurzaamheids centrum UPVolt

‘Het Duurzaamheidscentrum” centre facilitates the transition from prosperity to well-being by promoting all underlying transitions. Examples include the following transitions: Mobility, Energy, Finance, Food and Health. According to the PWER.ME foundation, people experience ‘well-being’ when they participate and influence a sustainable enviroment and economy. Through its innovative approaches and commitment to environmental management, the foundation catalyses significant change in different sectors in various countries.

At ‘Het Duurzaamheidscentrum’, students from Landstede Raalte get a unique opportunity to combine practice and theory. This collaboration allows students to take responsibility and gain practical experience in a context beyond the classroom setting. This helps them lay a strong foundation for a succesfull career in society.

HAN Hydromotive

PWER.ME Foundation supports the HAN Hydromotive Student Team of the University of Arnhem and Nijmegen. They aim to improve clean, green mobility and promote the use of hydrogen. To prove this, they are competing in the Shell Eco-marathon. HAN Hydromotive is building an ultra-efficient vehicle and using it to race against the top in Europe. In this race, international student teams comepte to see who had desinged the most efficient vehicle. In short, working with today’s students on tomorrow’s furture!

Swimming centrum 'De Welle'

With UPVolt Energy Solutions, the PWER.ME Foundation is contributing to the construction of the largest swimming pool complex in the Northern Netherlands in Drachten. Here, over 1100 solar panels will be used to generate renewable energy and over 6000 HeCo pipes, together with large heat pumps, will provide heating for the building and the water. The electrical energy generated is stored in the new salt batteries.

The energy needed for the pool is generated in a very innovative and sustainable way. With a swimming pool, a lot of energy is mainly needed to heat the water (thermal energy). This is about 70 to 80%. The remaining energy (electrical energy) is needed for lighting and other installations. The installation is designed to use the energy from 1-to-1 as much as possible. But the system can also exchange with each other via an Energy Management System.

Our focus is on energy, mobility, food, health, social, art and financial transitions. The most important core values for our projects are: sharing, (local) participation, micro economies and cost minimization within the ecosystem. By means of education and information, we make people aware of the transitions and how they can contribute to them in a positive way.

These various transitions are necessary to achieve the right balance in society. Only when all components (food supply, living environment, economy, leisure) are in balance, there is a chance of world peace and a correspondingly high level of well-being.
